TRIWA A/W 11: ADDING COLOUR

Swedish watch brand Triwa has spearheaded the return of the colourful, plastic watch trend, allowing everyone to add colour to an outfit and use the watch as an accessory.

For the A/W11 collection, Triwa opted to skip conservative advertising and opted for art instead as focus for the communication. Talanded photoartist Fredrik Öhman was chosen to create campaign/collection images, consisting of artfully surrealistic morphed animal portraits inspired by the colorful watch collection. The portraits were exhibited today at the gorgeous space Jonas Kleerup Gallery.

CARMEN PREMIERE AT ROYAL SWEDISH OPERA

Last night we attended the Royal Swedish Opera‘s rendition of Carmen, possibly the world’s most well-known opera. Georges Bizet’s music is captivating but the entire performance sadly left us a little underwhelmed. While we’re all for modernizing classics, the minimalistic staging and costume felt unispired, lacking impact and passion and didn’t jive well with the turbulent opera. The best part was the orchestra and tenor Michael Weinius as Don José.

Carmen runs 24/9 – 14/4 2011.

Music: Georges Bizet. Lyrics: Henri Meilhac och Ludovic Halévy efter Prosper Mérimées novell. Design: Vincent Lemaire. Costumes/Make-up: Zana Bosnjak. Light design:Hans-Åke Sjöquist. Producer: Vincent Boussard
